I did this for my art class... I have the description below ---->>>
My painting symbolizes a political aspect of the present world while at the same time something that is relatively powerful and meaningful to me. I’ve seen so many civilians dying everyday in foreign countries simply because a country such as the U.S can’t control its power. The U.S has absolute power, so great that balancing against it almost becomes impossible. I have taken the aspect of what I believe and have transformed it into a painting using oil paints. I’ve drawn a hand squeezing the world with the American flag tattooed to its wrist representing how the US is the central power of the world. They basically control the world. I’ve also painted the Statue of Liberty holding a gun, instead of its usual torch because I don’t think US is bringing liberty and freedom to countries but rather its destroying their land and taking away their freedom. I would like to call my statue, “The Statue of Suppression”. Lastly, I’ve finalized my painting by drawing a nuclear explosion in the background. It unifies, and brings everything together.

Great art work here.. vvverrry political! For the record... I have been completely oppose to the war on saddam from the start. Our enemies are al quidea who are spread around the world. .. they are not in Iraq. This Sunday marks the 4th anniversary of the attacks in my home city, the failure of a vacation regime leader and the insane ideas of a terrorist all combined to make this very sad day for humanity.
Its true that the US government is an ugly thing... case in point, when the US government reacted 4 days later after Hurricane Katrina demolished Louisiana, Alabama and Mississippi ... and not to mention New Orleans.
But oh .. yea. ... when it came to going to war with saddam by orders of bush cheney ... the government moved mountains to make this a quick start. 
The Staute of Liberty is a true symbol, even thought your dev has a comical view of it. I think it sever justice to the nation we are living in today. bush did not bother to renew the gun laws that were established by President Clinton back in the 1990's, which kept our nation a bit safer from illegal guns. Now that guns are again without laws... they are running amock in the inner cities. We never get to hear about it becuase most of the news is about Iraq and nowadays in New Orleans.
The squezzing hand was very creative
... but in my view... it not so much the US Government placing the squezze but also bush cheney, economically speaking as well.
... what is that behind.... a nuclear bomb expolding?!
